CONTACTING US

  • You can text 24/7 -- 365. We may not return a text if its late but rest assured, we will respond first thing in the morning.

  • Email is just as good

We confirm everything – whether it is a vacation or a simple visit.  While we will follow up with you at least 1 or 2 days prior to our visit, depending on our schedule. We understand that our confirmation may not be until after you are comfortable receiving a message from us so we will not be offended if you wish to reach out to us prior.  Please never ASSUME a visit is confirmed unless we make contact.

VACATION SCHEDULING

  • It’s preferred clients book pet sitting at least 1 month prior to departure. Last minute requests will most likely lead to at least some shortened visits to accommodate request.

  • We start booking 1 year in advance so it’s never too early!!

  • We’d very much prefer a cancelled trip booked a year in advance, then an attempt to squeeze visits requested 2 weeks prior into an already tight schedule.

  • While we will do everything in our power to accommodate a last-minute vacation request, or even a single visit request but please understand that it may potentially lead to us having to do shorter visits to “fit you in”.

  • This is an even greater task to accomplish for summer months (May – September) as well as all major holidays including Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas & New Years.

VISITS

  • Visits times are approximate. I cannot guarantee a specified time for any visits due to the nature of this business. That being said, pets with medical / special needs will always be given special accommodations.

  • Generally, we prefer to do the last visit at 9pm because we get up very early the next day. Visits requested 10pm or later may either be shortened or there will be an additional fee.

  • Visits begin when we open the door to your home & end when we leave. That being said, please be aware that sometime visits need to be cut short for personal reasons (or last min requests as mentioned above) and we appreciate your understanding. We will make it up on the next visit or over the next few visits.

  • No Skipping Visits for Cats.  Daily visits are required for the health and wellbeing of your pets as well as safety of your home

DISCRETION

  • As it is our duty to provide care for your furry loved ones in your absence, we sometimes need to exercise our professional judgement.   If a “walk” is scheduled and the temperature is over 85 deg or below freezing, we will decide on how long it’s safe to walk your dog.

  • This is not only for the health & safely of pets, but us as well. If it is a 30min daily visit/walk, and its 95 deg. I assure you we will got out, get business done & come back inside where it’s cool.  This rule also applies for cold weather conditions, ice, snow etc.

  • These scenarios in no way cut the visit short, we are merely going to seek some inside entertainment together.

OVERNIGHTS

  • Time frame for overnights is approx. 10pm – 6am.  This can vary depending on but not including season, holiday & your location.

  • Generally, we aim to schedule any other bedtime visit for the latest 9pm.  As such, based on the above factors, our arrival time may be pushed back to accommodate.

HOME SECURITY

  • We are big proponents of personal security and believe home cameras are wonderful. We don’t mind them at all; however, we need to know where they located (inside & outside) whether we are performing a visit or even more importantly, an overnight.

  • One simple reason for this is while current NJ laws do not require you to disclose the presence of security camera installations, often, while performing a service in your home, I may accept telephone calls from other clients or family members.  As we all know speakerphone is multitasker’s best friend and if you do have cameras capable of recording audio and they overhear any conversation we may have, such an “intercept” would be unlawful.

** This is non-negotiable term of using Comfy Critters service**

KEYS

  • The easiest way to manage is for you to have a key ready for us at our meeting.

  • We will keep this key for all future pet sitting and when not actively visiting, it will be secured in a lock box at all times.

  • If you prefer, I do not keep your key, we can set up a key lock box outside your home. We have no problems suggesting a reputable for one to purchase & use for future pet sitting.

  • Traveling back and forth to continuously pick up & drop off a key is time consuming and not an option.

NO UNANNOUNCED VISITORS

  • Walking into a client’s home to find a stranger in the house, arriving to find a strange vehicle in the driveway or an open garage door are some of the scariest & stressful moments a pet sitter will endure.

  • While we prefer there are no other visitors while we are pet sitting, we are cognizant that we must make exceptions for cleaning services, home maintenance and last-minute family and/or friends that may swing by or come home.

  • Those exceptions aside, no other “pet sitting” services may be scheduled during our scheduled visiting window.

  • This creates a liability for our business, and we cannot be held responsible for if something happens.

  • I MUST be notified if ANYONE will be at or come to the house while we are there.  If it’s easier, feel free to give me a heads up and give the visitor my contact info… they are more than welcome to contact me directly day of.

PAYMENT

  • Payment is due in FULL, BEFORE you leave for your trip. Cash, Check & Venmo is accepted.

  • If paying via Venmo it must be sent BEFORE you leave for your trip.

HOLIDAYS

  • $5 extra PER VISIT

WHILE YOU ARE AWAY

  • Emergency Care:

Please call your vet and emergency vet & leave your CC info with them or leave me a CC to use in case of emergency

  • Snow Removal:

We need you to set up for snow removal before you leave in winter months.

    This is non-negotiable.

  • Emergency Backup:

This is very important in the event of Flood, Snow or one of the possible things that may impede us getting to your home.

Do you have neighbors, family or friends close by?

Maybe there is a neighbor you don’t want in your home all the time, but if it snows 2 feet and your road doesn’t get plowed quickly, it might be a favor worth calling in.

  • Returning home:

Please notify us when you get home.

It lets us know your home safe and more importantly your pets are being taken care of again by mom and/or dad.
